Harmony Wireless Communication System Description: This system is comprised of three principal components:

The Mobile Switching Office (MSO) processes dispatch, telephone interconnect, packet data sessions, messaging calls, and manages the mobility of Subscriber Units, and provides interface between the Radio Frequency network and the wire line PSTN network.

The Enhanced Base Transceiver System (EBTS cell sites) or, more commonly called cell sites, include the base station radios and associated control equipment that provides the Radio Frequency link between the land network and the subscriber units. All EBTS sites connect to the MSO (mobile switching office). The EBTS sites also include RF distribution equipment to facilitate the RF interface.

System operates in frequency band (806-825 RX, 851-870 TX)

Tx-Rx separation: 45 MHz.

Channel Separation: 25 KHz

6:1 interleave for dispatch service and 3:1 interleave for interconnect service

 

Call Capacity

Network is designed to support up to 30,000 subscribers according to a specific traffic and call model.

15% of the subscribers are assumed to use both the dispatch and interconnect services.

85% of the subscribers are assumed to use only dispatch service.

 

Channel Capacity

Network can support between Maximum 576 base radios across all sites implemented in the system.

Each Omni cell site can support 20 base radio carriers.

Each sectored cell site can support 24 base radio carriers.

A maximum of 9 base radio carriers, carrying packet data, per site or main-remote cluster is supported.
